2027 Drama Looms: Obi Will Break From ADC, Split Opposition Votes — Rufai Oseni Predicts Tinubu’s Smooth Ride to Victory
Nigerian broadcaster and political analyst, Rufai Oseni, has stirred fresh debate over the 2027 presidential election, predicting that Labour Party’s Peter Obi may part ways with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), leading to a splintering of opposition votes—and ultimately clearing the path for President Bola Tinubu to coast to re-election.
While Oseni’s comment adds fuel to speculation about alignments ahead of the next polls, the ADC has distanced itself from backing any particular presidential hopeful for now.
“We’re not in anyone’s pocket,” said the party’s interim chairman, David Mark. “Our priority is building a platform that truly resonates with Nigerians. This is about rescuing the country from collapse.”
He stressed that the party’s mission is beyond individuals. “No one owns this party more than the other. Our members must be ready to show that ADC is not like the others—it’s a different kind of political home.”
Though 2027 may still seem distant, the political chessboard is already shifting—and if Oseni’s forecast plays out, the cracks within the opposition may become Tinubu’s biggest advantage.
