2027 ELECTION: VERYDARKMAN FIRES BACK AT TINUBU, WIKE OVER POLITICAL IMPUNITY

By Ruth Nwokwu
Controversial social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over what he described as growing political impunity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, the activist expressed concern over Wike’s comments about influencing a state election, arguing that such remarks reflected an attitude of excessive political power within the administration.
Addressing Tinubu directly, VDM accused the president of allowing certain political officeholders to act without restraint in pursuit of a second-term ambition.
“President Tinubu, imagine the kind of impunity you have enabled in Nigeria, all in the name of securing a second term. You have allowed power-intoxicated people like the FCT Minister to forget their place,” he said.
VDM also challenged Wike’s perceived political influence, insisting that the Nigerian electorate remains the ultimate determinant of electoral outcomes in a democratic system.
“The masses are bigger than all of you. Nobody knows the outcome of the 2027 election because you people have pushed Nigerians to the wall,” he added.
Beyond criticising the president and the FCT minister, the activist blamed Nigerians for allowing tribal and religious divisions to weaken their collective voice and ability to hold political leaders accountable.
“I blame the people that refuse to unite, always using tribal card and religion,” he said.
In the caption accompanying the video, VDM tagged Tinubu’s official Instagram account and reiterated his displeasure with what he described as the growing disregard for the responsibilities of political officeholders.
He argued that politicians had become increasingly emboldened because citizens had failed to unite and demand accountability. He further stated that his criticism of Wike was also directed at the president, whom he held responsible for the conduct of officials serving under his administration.
The activist’s remarks come as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with questions surrounding leadership, accountability and the power of the electorate continuing to feature in public discourse.
