2027: I Support Power Staying in the South – Datti Baba-Ahmed
I have no objections and actually welcome the idea of power remaining in the South. If you remember, I once aspired to the presidency in 2019, and in 2023, I served as Vice President under His Excellency Peter Obi. Before that, I also sought to run for governor in Kaduna but eventually stepped down.
I deeply respect the principle of reciprocity, as demonstrated in Port Harcourt back in 2018, when there wasn’t a single candidate from the North, particularly from the areas north of Rivers, Niger, and Benue states. In 2023, it was clear to everyone that I did not contest, which I believe was an act of respect and fairness.
I’ve observed leaders like Peter Obi and Wike, along with their resources, experience, and popular support, choosing to refrain from contesting certain positions. This restraint is a powerful gesture of mutual respect. It might also explain why our good friend and leader, Wike, has taken strong actions within the PDP. If he decides to challenge or even disrupt the party, it is understandable given the poor treatment he has received there.
