25-Year-Old Lagos Worker Commit Suicide By Jumping into Iron Melting Pot At Work

A tragic incident occurred in Lagos when a 25-year-old contract worker, whose name has not been released, fatally jumped into a hot iron melting pot at his workplace.
Lagos State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the event on Sunday, stating that the incident took place at a company located in the Industrial Scheme of Odogunyan in Ikorodu. The safety officer of the company reported the incident to the Sagamu Road Police Division around 6:00 p.m. on August 3.
According to Hundeyin, the worker, who was assigned to the AOD Section, ran towards the restricted iron melting pot around 3:15 p.m. that day. Despite attempts by colleagues to prevent him, he jumped into the pot, leading to his body being completely consumed by the molten iron.
Police detectives have visited the scene, and the deceased’s family has been notified. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
Hundeyin remarked, “Efforts to restrain him were unsuccessful, and his body was entirely melted. Detectives have examined the scene, and the investigation is
ongoing.”
