BREAKING: Prominent Osun APC Member Arrested in Oyo Over Alleged Criticism of Governor Adeleke

Gafar Ifedolapo
A well-known member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Gafar Ifedolapo, popularly known as Governor Ifedolapo, has reportedly been arrested by police in Oyo State, allegedly due to his outspoken criticism of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.
The news was first shared by Kamiludeen Lamina, Chairman of the World Institute for Peace, through a post on Facebook on Tuesday. According to Lamina, Ifedolapo’s arrest is believed to have been politically motivated, linked to his recent remarks against Governor Adeleke’s leadership in Osun.
Lamina further alleged that the arrest was orchestrated by officials close to the governor, specifically naming the Special Adviser on Legal Matters and the Chief Security Officer as those involved. He revealed that Ifedolapo is currently appearing before a Magistrate Court in Ibadan.
Reports from FistClassGists indicate that Ifedolapo, who lives in Ibadan, was detained and immediately taken to court. His phones were reportedly confiscated at the time of arrest and only returned to him on Tuesday morning en route to court.
Two Osun APC members, Funso Fagboungbe and Adam Olajide, confirmed the arrest, which took place Monday evening. Olajide stated, “Yes, it’s true. He was arrested yesterday evening, his phones were seized, and they only returned them to him this morning while heading to court. They’re currently at the court.”
Fagboungbe emphasized that the party is actively working to secure Ifedolapo’s release, holding Governor Adeleke’s administration responsible for the incident.
When InsightMedia reached out to Nurudeen Kareem, Governor Adeleke’s Special Adviser on Legal Matters, he said he would respond later. Follow-up calls to him went unanswered.
