An Osun Magistrates’ Court in Ile-Ife has ordered the remand of Adebisi Kola, a 25-year-old man, for allegedly beating a woman, identified only as Grace, to death in the Ile-Ife area.
Prosecutor Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi informed the court that the incident occurred on April 15, 2024, around 4 p.m. in the Ita-Apata area of Ile-Ife. According to Osanyintuyi, Kola inflicted a fatal beating on Omisakin Grace.
The alleged crime is in violation of Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.
Adebisi Kola, represented by his counsel Mr. Micheal Babatunde, faced charges of assault and homicide. Magistrate Kikelomo Adebayo did not accept Kola’s plea, citing the court’s lack of jurisdiction over the case.
Magistrate Adebayo ordered Kola’s remand at the Ile-Ife corrections center, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions’ office. The case has been adjourned to June 21 for further mention.
