Police Arrest 25 Gang Members in Kaduna State

In a recent operation, the Kaduna State Police Command apprehended 25 gang members responsible for widespread disruption and harm within various communities. This effort is part of a broader initiative to combat social vices throughout the state.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansur Hassan, a new specialized unit has been established in response to rising incidents of thuggery, phone and handbag snatching, and drug-related offenses among the youth.

State Commissioner of Police, CP A.D. Ali, introduced the new unit, dubbed the Anti-Vice Unit, which will collaborate with local police divisions to address these issues effectively. The unit’s mandate includes tackling thuggery, phone theft, drug abuse and trafficking, and the possession of dangerous weapons.

“So far, the Anti-Vice Unit has arrested 25 individuals involved in these crimes, with 16 apprehended in the Rigasa area alone for thuggery and possession of dangerous weapons,” said CP A.D. Ali. He emphasized that the goal is to make Kaduna’s urban areas safer by continuously targeting these criminal elements.

The Commissioner also urged parents and guardians to counsel their children against engaging in criminal activities, stressing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining public safety.
