See what Senate Proposes for Vandals of National Assets Across Nigeria
The Nigerian Senate has approved a new bill proposing the death penalty for those who vandalize national assets across the country. This bill is expected to be presented on the Senate floor soon.
Senator Adamu Aliero, the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the current senator representing Kebbi State, announced this development while speaking to journalists in Abuja.
He expressed his concern over the persistent vandalism of national properties, including power installations, railway tracks, airport facilities, and other valuable assets. Senator Aliero emphasized the need for stringent measures to protect these critical infrastructures.
The senator called on his colleagues to support the bill, which aims to impose the death penalty as a deterrent to vandalism. “It’s unacceptable to destroy what our country has invested heavily in,” he stated. “Those responsible, including their sponsors, must face severe consequences.”
