Hunger Protest: See what Oba of Benin Urges Nigerians to Do

Oba of Benin
The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewaure II, has called on Nigerian youths to cancel the planned protest set for August 1, 2024. In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Osaigbovo Iguobaro, the Oba emphasized that improvements take time and urged patience with the Federal Government’s efforts.
The Oba appealed to those frustrated by current hardships to allow the government more time to implement economic policies aimed at alleviating the situation. “For things to get better, it has to be tough for a while,” he noted.
The monarch also urged the federal government to accelerate the implementation of its economic and security policies. He advised those planning the nationwide protest to reconsider their plans.
This plea follows a proposal by some youths to start a 10-day nationwide hunger and hardship protest on August 1, 2024, to highlight the challenges faced by citizens and attract the attention of both federal and state governments.
President Bola Tinubu has also requested more time from Nigerians to fulfill his plans for the nation.
