Children Take to the Streets in Maiduguri, Blocking Roads Amid Protests

In Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, a substantial number of children aged 10 to 17 joined a nationwide protest yesterday. The demonstration took place under tight security along the major Kano road in the Bulunkutu area.

The young protesters held signs expressing their discontent with the current administration. Some of the messages on the placards included “End the Bad Governance,” “Bama so (We don’t want),” and “We are hungry.”

The demonstration effectively halted traffic on the Kano road, with many vehicles being turned away and Keke Napep riders urged to participate in the protest.

Starting around 9:00 am, the protest gained momentum as young men and women called for President Tinubu’s resignation. Reports indicate that protesters even sent passengers home to prepare for the protest.

As a result, fuel stations and small businesses reopened later in the day, while commuters were left to walk due to the disruption.
