Four Dead in Clash Between Cult Groups Over Drug Debt in Delta

A violent confrontation between Aye and Bagger cult groups in Ughelli, Delta State, has resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals across various locations.

The conflict, which erupted in Ughelli North Local Government Area, was triggered by an unpaid drug debt. Reports indicate that the four deceased were members of the rival cults involved.

According to sources, the dispute began when one victim, who had sold drugs to a member of the opposing cult without receiving payment, was assaulted. The retaliation came when the victim later encountered his assailant in a secluded area and attacked him with unidentified weapons.

The retaliation ignited further violence as both cult groups mobilized their members, leading to a series of brutal killings throughout Ughelli. The violence began on Thursday and intensified over the weekend. Two victims were found dead in the Okogbe area of Otovwodo, while the other two were killed near Iwhreko and Ogor Park on Sunday morning.

Graphic videos obtained by reporters showed the victims with severe injuries, including machete wounds.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, has yet to issue a statement regarding the incidents. However, a security source confirmed the situation, noting that three deaths have been officially verified.
