CDD Former Director Give Reasons why Nigerians are Frustrated

Jibrin Ibrahim, a political science professor and former Director of the Center for Democracy and Development (CDD), has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for misleading Nigerians. Ibrahim made these comments during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

He argued that governance in Nigeria is deteriorating due to the government’s failure to fulfill its promises. Ibrahim highlighted the severe impact of inflation, noting that many Nigerians are struggling to afford basic necessities.

“The removal of the fuel subsidy was accompanied by promises of CNG buses and reduced transportation costs within weeks. However, 13 months later, these buses have yet to materialize,” Ibrahim said. “This is akin to waiting for Godot—a promise that never arrives. Such repeated assurances without results lead to widespread frustration and anger among the populace.”

Ibrahim further pointed out that many Nigerians are suffering due to the economic crisis, with some unable to afford necessary medicines. He criticized the government for attempting to placate the public with unfulfilled promises while ignoring the real issues affecting people’s lives.
