Police Free 10 Minors in Nasarawa Protest, Charge 40 Protesters Adults 

The Nasarawa State Police Command announced the release of 10 minors who were detained during a nationwide hunger protest. DSP Ramhan Nansel, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, provided this update in an interview on Thursday in Lafia.

 

On August 1, the first day of the protest, police detained 50 protesters across four Local Government Areas, accusing them of attacking officers and looting property. Arrests were made as follows: 25 in Lafia, 16 in Karu, six in Keffi, and three in Mararaba Udege of Nasarawa Local Government Area.

 

Nansel confirmed that the 10 minors had been released into the care of their parents or guardians. The remaining 40 protesters have been charged in court. Nansel urged the public to continue their lawful activities without fear of harassment.
