How College of Education Student was Arrested for Alleged Theft of Laptop and Phones

A third-year student from Accra College of Education was apprehended by peers yesterday for allegedly stealing a laptop and several mobile phones. The suspect reportedly entered a student’s room while others were attending an event at the school’s auditorium. The student in the room quickly alerted others, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Upon searching the suspect’s bags, authorities discovered not only the stolen laptop but also around eight phones and several flash drives. The individual was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.
This incident highlights a growing problem with theft on campus, as eight laptops have already been reported stolen from the school’s ICT laboratory.
Reactions to the theft on X have been varied. @manuelphrimpz tweeted, “Exam week is stressful; if you’re careless, you might end up being a victim.”
Meanwhile, @IHimpson expressed concern over the handling of the situation, stating, “Beating up a student is unnecessary. If you suspect someone, approach them calmly to resolve the issue. The violence and discrimination among students are becoming excessive.”
@ajnelson__ shared, “These situations are troubling. While I feel sorry for those caught, I could never condone such actions.”
@UTDErnesto commented, “It’s disappointing to see a future professional teacher involved in theft. What kind of role model will he be for his students?”
