See the Numbers of Herders and  Cattles Missing in Anambra, Miyetti Allah Issues Alert

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has reported the disappearance of 11 of its members and 33 cattle in Anambra State. Both MACBAN and the Association of Non-Indigenes in Anambra State (ANIAS) have denied that the two individuals recently apprehended in Mgbakwu, Awka North Local Government Area, have any connections to their organizations.

The two associations have called for a comprehensive investigation into these abductions, underscoring that MACBAN members are lawful non-indigenes who have established legitimate livelihoods in the state.

In a statement by Gidado Siddiki, MACBAN’s Deputy Director General, it was highlighted that all criminals, regardless of their background, should be prosecuted under the law. Siddiki stated, “Criminals act purely out of the pursuit of ransom and do not discriminate based on ethnicity or background. The detained individuals are unfamiliar to us and may be external infiltrators.”

Siddiki urged law enforcement to thoroughly investigate the kidnapping incidents and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice. He also reported that 20 cattle belonging to Haruna Mohammed were killed, and 13 cows owned by Ibrahim Mohammed were lost along with their owner in the same region.

Due to escalating security issues earlier this year, Siddiki noted that all legitimate MACBAN members have left the area.

Separately, Prince Chigozie Nweke, President of ANIAS, confirmed that their organization keeps a detailed record of all non-indigenes in Anambra, including MACBAN members.
