How Infant’s Dead Body Was Discovered on Farm in Niger State
The Niger State Police Command has reported the discovery of an infant’s lifeless body, believed to be just a day old, on a farm in Tayi village, Minna.
SP Waisu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the news to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday. On August 9, the GRA Police Division was alerted to the presence of the deceased baby in a farmland in Tayi village.
Abiodun stated that officers from the GRA Division promptly responded to the scene and contacted welfare officials from the Chanchaga Local Government Area. The welfare officials brought a medical professional who confirmed the baby was deceased.
The case is currently under investigation, with community assistance being sought to identify and apprehend those responsible for this tragic incident.
A local resident, who chose to remain anonymous, speculated that the baby may have been abandoned by a woman who gave birth out of wedlock. The resident suggested that the infant might have been left outside alive but succumbed to exposure, noting that such an event is unprecedented in their area.
