OPay Launches ‘Nightguard’ to Enhance Fund Security

Financial technology leader OPay has unveiled a new security feature, Nightguard, aimed at providing an additional layer of protection for customer funds.
In a statement released to The PUNCH on Monday, OPay announced the introduction of Nightguard amidst a rise in financial fraud, emphasizing its commitment to safeguarding customer assets.
Recent reports indicate that Nigerian financial institutions recorded 11,472 fraud cases in the first quarter of 2024. In response, OPay’s Nightguard feature is designed to be a groundbreaking addition to the financial sector, offering enhanced security for user funds.
The Nightguard function is tailored to secure accounts during times of increased vulnerability, such as overnight hours and during late-night activities. Users can activate a security window from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am, during which any transfer attempts must undergo stringent identity verification.
OPay’s Nightguard feature requires facial recognition for transfers made within this period, ensuring that unauthorized access to accounts is prevented, and providing users with an added sense of security and peace of mind.
Mr. Dauda Gotring, CEO of OPay Nigeria, stated, “The Nightguard feature marks a significant innovation in Nigeria’s mobile payment sector, equipping users with a powerful tool to protect their financial transactions. As a leader in fintech in Nigeria, OPay is dedicated to empowering customers with control over their financial security.”
The introduction of Nightguard highlights OPay’s commitment to enhancing user security and satisfaction. This feature, unique to the OPay App, presents a compelling reason for users to adopt the platform, especially those concerned about phone security and fund protection. With Nightguard, users can rest easy, knowing their finances are well-protected.
