Man impersonate police in Uniform Arrested for Armed Robbery in Lagos

Two individuals posing as police officers have been detained in Lagos State on charges of armed robbery.Â

A video circulating online depicts the suspects being paraded by authentic Nigeria Police Force members, showcasing their weapons and other items. The video’s commentary reveals that the pair had been pretending to be Inspectors in order to extort and rob unsuspecting residents of Lagos.

The narrator criticized the situation, remarking, “With complete uniforms and the rank of Inspector, Lagos has become quite a different place.”
As of now, the Lagos State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding this case. The arrest has raised concerns about the suspects’ backgrounds and the measures the police will take moving forward.
In a related note, SaharaReporters highlighted a November 2022 incident where officers, including Inspectors Saratu, Joy, and Shehu from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, were accused of distributing fake appointment letters to constable applicants in exchange for large payments.
