NNPC vs Dangote: Why we will Export our Petrol

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has issued a warning that it will consider exporting its petrol if the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and other local oil marketers do not show sufficient interest in its products.
Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited, revealed this during a live broadcast on the Brekete Family Show on Monday.
According to DAILY POST, Dangote Refinery President Aliko Dangote announced on Tuesday that the facility has begun producing petrol from its 650,000 barrels-per-day capacity. He previously indicated that the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from this refinery could be available in Nigerian markets within 48 hours, depending on the actions of NNPCL.
Edwin noted, “We have been exporting aviation fuel and producing kerosene and diesel. As of yesterday, we have also started producing PMS. The only remaining product to be produced is petrochemicals.
“However, we’ve faced challenges with local distribution as some traders have attempted to hinder the flow of our products. Despite this, we are prepared to supply as much PMS as needed. If the local market, including traders and NNPCL, does not engage with our products, we will have no choice but to export the petrol, as we currently do with aviation jet fuel and diesel.”
