Celebration Of Birthdays Is Baseless In Islam – Islam for Muslims, see reasonsĀ

In Islam, celebrating birthdays, whether personal or in honor of other revered figures, lacks foundation and is not supported by Islamic teachings.
The Qur’an emphasizes following the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a model for those who seek the pleasure of Allah and the Last Day, as stated in Surah Al-Ahzab (33:21): “Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.”
Islamic teachings dictate that we adhere strictly to the guidance provided by Allah. As mentioned in Surah Adh-Dhariyat (51:56): “And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me alone.”
Any act of worship or practice not established by the Prophet Muhammad and his companions is considered an innovation (bid’ah). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever introduces something into this matter of ours that is not part of it will have it rejected” (Agreed upon).
The Prophet also warned against innovations, stating, “Every newly-invented matter is an innovation, every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance will be in the Fire” (Reported by al-Nisaaāi in al-Sunan, and similarly narrated by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and Ibn Maajah).
In his sermons, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would begin by saying, “The best speech is the Book of Allah and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. The worst things are those which are newly-invented, and every innovation is misguidance” (Reported by Muslim, no. 867).
These teachings underscore the importance of adhering to established Islamic practices and avoiding innovations that deviate from the authentic teach
ings of Islam.
