Ijaw Youths Support Clark’s Demand for Wike’s Arrest Over Threats

Ijaw youths, represented by the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, have expressed their full support for Ijaw leader Chief Edwin Clark’s call for the arrest of Chief Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. This follows Wike’s recent threats to instigate violence in states governed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if they involve themselves in Rivers State politics.
The IYC argues that Clark’s call is justified and emphasizes that Wike should be held accountable if his statements lead to unrest. They believe that no individual should have the monopoly on violence and that Nigeria’s security is at risk due to Wike’s provocative comments.
IYC Spokesman Amb. Binebai Princewill stated that Wike’s remarks are too serious for the Inspector-General of Police and other security agencies to ignore. He criticized Wike’s blatant disregard for the nation’s security and called for immediate action.
Princewill asserted, “The Ijaw Youth Council insists that Wike must allow Governor Fubara Siminalaye to govern Rivers State peacefully. His statements only threaten national stability. The IYC will not stand by as Wike’s actions risk causing chaos in an already troubled country.”
He added that Wike’s behavior reflects poorly on Nigeria’s security agencies and government, stressing that the country cannot afford to be governed by individuals who act above the law. The IYC’s statement underscores their concern about the implications of Wike’s threats and the need for urgent intervention to prevent further escalation.
