Breaking News: NNPC Begins Petrol Distribution from Dangote Refinery

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has commenced the distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from the Dangote Refinery. This follows the arrival of more than 100 NNPCL trucks at the Dangote facility in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, over the weekend, where the first shipment of petrol was loaded.
A video posted on the Dangote Group’s official X account on Sunday verified that this operation has officially begun.
This development follows an announcement by Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and member of the Presidential Committee on the Sale of Crude Oil and Refined Products, on Friday in Abuja. Adedeji stated that NNPCL is the exclusive purchaser of petrol from the Dangote refinery, while other products such as diesel will be available to other buyers. He also noted that starting October 1, NNPCL will pay for crude oil from the Dangote refinery in Naira.
Despite the initiation of petrol distribution, there is still uncertainty regarding any potential changes in petrol prices at the pump. Both the Dangote refinery and NNPCL have yet to provide details on the pricing structure for the petrol now being distributed, leaving market observers and consumers in anticipation.
