One Suspected Cultist Killed Amid Renewed Violence in Edo

Cult clashes
The Edo State Police Command has reported the death of one individual in the latest outbreak of cult-related violence in the area. However, local sources claim that the actual number of fatalities may be as high as eight.
The clash reportedly involved members of the Eiye and Vikings confraternities. While the specific cause of the violence remains unclear, FIRST CLASS GISTS learned that tensions escalated following an unsuccessful meeting aimed at resolving disputes between the two groups at the Tipper garage in Idogbo on Upper Sakponba Road.
During the attempted resolution, Eiye members reportedly attacked Vikings members with knives, resulting in injuries but no deaths at that time. In retaliation, Vikings members later killed a prominent Eiye figure, which further intensified the violence and led to additional casualties.
In response to the ongoing violence, the Benin United Forum has urged the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, to invoke curses against those involved in cult-related activities, similar to the measures taken to combat human trafficking in the kingdom.
