Gov. Alia Pledges Severe Retribution for Christmas Day Massacre in Benue

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has condemned the brutal attacks on Anwase community in Kwande Local Government Area, Benue State, which resulted in the deaths of 11 innocent residents at the hands of suspected Fulani herdsmen. The attack occurred on December 25, as the community was celebrating Christmas.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and voiced concern about the persistence of such violence in the state, despite his administration’s efforts to safeguard the lives of its citizens.
The Governor vowed that those responsible for the horrific crime would be held accountable. “The perpetrators of this senseless act will face severe consequences,” Alia stated. “Although they may believe they are unidentified, justice will eventually prevail, and they will not escape the law.”
Governor Alia also extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and expressed solidarity with those injured in the attack. He assured them that his administration would do everything possible to ensure the attackers are brought to justice.
