Shocking Murder: 29-Year-Old Man Arrested for Killing Mother in Ritualistic Killing

A 29-year-old man has been apprehended by the police in Batriko, Eastern Boki Local Government Area (LGA), Cross River State, on suspicion of murdering his mother for ritualistic purposes.

The spokesperson for the Cross River Police Command, SP Irene Ugbo, confirmed the suspect’s arrest and detention in a statement on Friday in Calabar, though additional details were not provided.
The tragic event took place on December 25, 2024, in Batriko, and authorities have since confirmed that a combined team of police officers and security personnel from the Obudu council area apprehended the suspect on Friday.
According to reliable sources, the suspect allegedly discarded his mother’s body in a well in Obudu LGA, and law enforcement had been working to locate him since the incident. The suspect, along with a native doctor, was arrested, and both are now being held for further questioning.
Reports suggest the suspect had shaved his mother’s hair and disposed of her remains in the well. During the arrest, police discovered the suspect at a native doctor’s shrine, where they found a bag containing his late mother’s hair.
Both the suspect and the native doctor are currently being held at the Obudu Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation.
