LASTMA Sacks 12 Officers and Demotes 19 for Bad Conduct
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has taken strong action against some of its officers for behaving badly on the job. The agency has sacked 12 officers and demoted 19 others after finding them guilty of misconduct.
What Happened?
The officers faced a disciplinary panel set up by LASTMA. After looking into the cases, the panel found some officers guilty of serious misconduct, which led to their dismissal. Others were found to have committed lesser offences and were demoted or given warning letters.
Why Did LASTMA Take This Step?
LASTMA wants to improve its service and make sure its workers behave properly. Under the leadership of General Manager Babatunde Oki-Olalekan, the agency has started retraining and reorienting its staff to better serve the public and earn people’s trust.
How the Public Feels
Many members of the public have complained in the past about how some LASTMA officers behave. In response, the agency is taking steps to clean up its image and show that bad behaviour won’t be tolerated. The recent sackings and demotions show that LASTMA is serious about discipline.
What’s Next?
LASTMA says it will continue to work on improving its staff and services. The goal is to have honest, respectful officers who help manage traffic better across Lagos. This recent action sends a clear message to all officers that misconduct will have serious consequences.
This move shows that LASTMA is committed to being transparent and doing the right thing for the people of Lagos.
