2027 Elections: Wike Credits Tinubu’s Performance for Weakening Opposition Coalition
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s developmental efforts—particularly in Abuja—with undermining the opposition’s plans to challenge the current administration in the 2027 elections.
Wike made this statement during the inauguration of key infrastructure projects, including the Maitama-Gishiri Bridge and the Katampe-Jahi-Mabushi connecting roads. He argued that the President’s visible achievements have dismantled the momentum of a proposed opposition alliance.
Several opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have been working to form a united front ahead of the next general election. However, internal conflicts within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a lack of a unified strategy have hampered their progress.
Speaking at the event, Wike said, “The idea of a coalition has collapsed—your work has made it irrelevant. The opposition cannot gain traction when people can see real progress.”
He continued by expressing unwavering support for Tinubu’s leadership: “Not everyone will appreciate this, because some are never satisfied. But the reality is that, under Tinubu’s leadership, there is renewed trust among contractors and visible signs of development.”
