Datti Yusuf: Wike’s Actions Are Understandable from a Human Perspective
Datti Yusuf has offered his perspective on the political actions of Nyesom Wike, suggesting that while not entirely justifiable, they can be understood to a certain extent given the circumstances.
According to Yusuf, several individuals share responsibility for the current political tensions. He explained that Wike, who played a significant role in keeping the party strong during difficult times, feels betrayed by people he once considered close allies. Reflecting on events that unfolded in full public view at Eagle Square, Yusuf described Wike’s sense of betrayal as deeply personal.
“Imagine being sidelined by individuals you trusted—especially during a critical political moment,” Yusuf said. “From Wike’s point of view, he was wronged by people he had supported over the years, and that betrayal came from individuals he perceives as representing both a shared region and religion.”
Yusuf added that Wike’s reaction, though aggressive, stems from a very human place: disappointment, frustration, and a desire to push back after being hurt. “If anyone felt this level of betrayal, it’s only natural for them to fight back. That’s human.”
He further cautioned political actors about the dangers of manipulative strategies and broken alliances. “Even in politics, there should be boundaries. When someone feels they’ve been used and abandoned, especially after years of loyalty, it’s not surprising they respond with resistance,” he said.
In Yusuf’s view, Wike’s current posture isn’t just about politics—it’s personal.
