About six decades ago, in the historic, highly populated and culturally rich town of Ikire famed for the legendary ‘Dodo Ikire’ and its bustling markets , a shining light was born.

That light is Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, fondly known as AMBO.

From his early days at ADC Primary School, Ikire, to Ayedade Grammar School, his brilliance and discipline were evident. He was not just studying for success; he was preparing for a lifetime of service. Armed with a Higher National Diploma in Banking and Finance from The Polytechnic, Ibadan (1987), a Master’s in Public Administration from Lagos State University, and an MBA from the University of Ado-Ekiti, AMBO pursued knowledge not for titles, but as tools to build, to lead, and to inspire.

Today, he holds the revered titles of Asiwaju of Ikire Kingdom and Balogun Musulumi of Irewole/Ayedaade/Isokan Federal Constituency. Yet, AMBO is more than a devout Muslim, He is also a bridge across faiths. He has contributed immensely to Christendom, including building the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Secretariat in Ikire and supporting Christian communities across Osun State. His influence continues to echo across institutions and communities.

For 37 years, AMBO redefined banking excellence rising through the ranks at Wema Bank, Trans International Bank, Spring Bank, and Enterprise Bank. His name became synonymous with integrity, performance, and leadership. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria, and the Association of Enterprise Risk Management Professionals.

Even at the height of his banking career, he never forgot his roots. In 1997, He founded White Green Farms a fully integrated agricultural value chain that feeds markets, creates jobs, exports food, and empowers communities. Today, White Green Farms stands as a leading Nigerian exporter of processed foods.

In 2012, he was headhunted by then Governor Rauf Aregbesola to revive the failing Osun Investment Company Limited (OSICOL). Many thought the task impossible, but within five years, AMBO transformed it into a thriving conglomerate, delivering estates in Lagos and Abuja, as well as a mega retailing station with 26 pumps (now operated by NNPC).

By 2017, as Osun battled financial collapse with dwindling revenues, half salaries, and crippling debts AMBO was appointed Commissioner for Finance by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. Within months, he ended the half-salary era, implemented the Treasury Single Account, plugged leakages, and restored full salary payments.

Under Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, he was reappointed Finance Commissioner. Despite lean federal allocations, COVID-19, and the EndSARS crisis, Osun paid salaries and pensions promptly, offset ₦97 billion inherited debts without borrowing, implemented the ₦30,000 minimum wage, and increased education capital spending by 102%. By 2022, Osun’s IGR per capita had grown from ₦1,378 (2017) to ₦5,185, and its fiscal ranking improved from 36th to 11th in Nigeria.

Today, as the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), AMBO is once again delivering results. Waterway accidents are down 30%, operations have improved, and budget performance hit a record-breaking 91% in 2024 a feat described by the Nigerian Senate as “exemplary.”

Despite increased federal allocations, Osun today struggles with hunger, poor infrastructure, and economic hardship due to ineffective leadership. But AMBO, a practicing farmer and reformer, believes an agrarian state like Osun has no business with hunger.

His Agriculture Blueprint is already in motion: a strategic plan to harness sorghum production in at least eight Guinean Forst Savanna Mosaic LGAs with an off-take partnership from Nigeria’s largest brewery (currently spending ₦100 billion yearly sourcing sorghum from the North). This initiative would provide seedlings, extension services, and guaranteed markets for Osun farmers by the company.

On Industrialization, his team is working on an actionable roadmap leveraging Osun’s proximity to Ibadan’s gas pipelines. By extending gas infrastructure to Osun’s border towns, the state can host industrial parks and manufacturing hubs, replicating the success of Sagamu as a magnet for investors. Reliable, affordable power will be the game-changer.

AMBO is equally committed to sustainable healthcare and education reforms. As part of the Health Committee under Governor Oyetola, he contributed to revitalizing over 300 health centers across Osun, dramatically improving Osun maternal health outcomes. As a major player in the marine and blue economy sector , he is also positioned to revive the abandoned Dagbolu Dry Port Project in synergy with the Nigerian Railway Corporation linking Osun to the global economy.

AMBO understands that no society can rise above the quality of its education and infrastructure. He recognizes Osun’s infrastructure deficit poor roads, inadequate public facilities, unreliable power, and underfunded schools and is committed to bridging this gap. His blueprint emphasizes modern schools, digital learning, and skill-based education to prepare young people for a competitive future. On infrastructure, his vision is to connect communities with quality roads, expand power access, and revive abandoned projects that can unlock trade and industrial growth. For AMBO, education builds the people, and infrastructure empowers the economy; together, they are the backbone of Osun’s prosperity.

Bola Oyebamiji is happily married to Dr. Shekinah Bola-Oyebamiji, a Consultant Obstetrician, Gynaecologist, and University Senior Lecturer. Together, they are blessed with children. His life is deeply rooted in service, guided by faith, and fortified by excellence.

The AMBO Movement UK proudly presents Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji , a leading, governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progresives Congress, APC in Osun State as the leader Osun State needs in this defining moment.

A proven leader in finance, governance, and economic revival.

A visionary farmer with practical agricultural blueprints.

A reformer who has delivered results at state and national levels.

AMBO a bridge across faiths, a man of honour, and a servant-leader with a human face who is ready to transform education, infrastructure, agriculture, and industry for a greater Osun.

Now, more than ever, Osun needs him. Osun deserves him. Osun is ready for him.

AMBO lati wa tun Osun ṣe

AMBO fún ìdàgàsókè Osun tí kò l’ẹgbẹ́

Ani AMBO fún rere Ipinlẹ̀ Osun!
