Yesterday, at Ipetu Ijesa Grammar School football pitch, Ipetu Ijesa, Osun State, the just-concluded Majeobaote U17 Football Competition, hosted by Amb. Chief Olaniyi Francis Ilesanmi, founder of the Majeobaote Foundation, has successfully spotlighted grassroots football in the Osun East Senatorial District. The competition brought together 12 youth teams from across the Senatorial District in a spirited display of unity, talent, and sportsmanship. After several rounds of thrilling matches, Obokun FA, Ilesa, emerged victorious, clinching the championship title with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Atakumosa East FC in the final.

The Football Competition is a Vision Driven by Purpose and Humanity

The football competition which was hosted and fully financed by Amb.Olaniyi Ilesanmi, the High Chief Majeobaote I of Ipetu Ijesa Kingdom, a renowned humanitarian, Chief Patron of Friends of Seyi Tinubu (FOST), Osun State and a leading aspirant for the Osun East Senatorial seat. Through the Majeobaote Foundation, he has continually demonstrated a commitment to youth empowerment, community development, and the nurturing of raw talent across our Senatorial District

The U17 Football Fiesta serves not only as a competition but as a strategic intervention to engage the youth positively, discourage social vices, and discover football talents that can be sponsored into professional careers locally and internationally.

Group Stage Highlights
The competition kicked off with 12 formidable teams divided into four groups:
Group A: Majeobaote FA Ipetu Ijesa, Atakumosa East FC Iperindo, Divine FA Ilesa
Group B: Unity FC Ilesa, Ijesa Warriors Feeders, City Boys FC Ijebu Jesa
Group C: Benvious FA Ilesa, Erin Ijesa Boys FC, Dynamic Feeders Ikeji Arakeji
Group D: Oba Amura FC Erin Oke, Obokun FA Ilesa, Young Stars FC Ipetu Ijesa

Notable group-stage performances included Unity FC’s 4-0 thrashing of Ijesa Warriors Feeders, and City Boys FC’s 8-0 Demolition by the same team, showcasing the attacking prowess of young talents.

In Group D, Young Stars FC made a powerful statement with a 6-0 win over Oba Amura FC, while Obokun FA proved their mettle with a 3-0 win over the same side.

In a tightly contested final match, Obokun FA clinched the title with a narrow but decisive 1-0 win over Atakumosa East FC. The final, held amidst a large crowd of supporters, traditional leaders, and dignitaries, was a true celebration of youth excellence and community spirit.
