Terror in Southern Kaduna: Bandits Abduct Rev. Fr. Bobo Pascal and Several Residents
Southern Kaduna has once again been thrown into panic as armed bandits launched a daring nighttime attack, abducting Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Bobo Pascal and several residents in the latest wave of violence troubling the region. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, has intensified fears among communities already grappling with persistent insecurity.
According to local sources, the attackers stormed the area heavily armed, firing sporadically to create chaos before whisking away their victims. Rev. Fr. Pascal, known for his community outreach and humanitarian service, was reportedly taken from the parish residence, leaving parishioners devastated.
Residents described the assault as swift but brutal. Many who witnessed the attack said the bandits moved with precision, suggesting prior knowledge of the community’s layout and security patterns. Several houses were raided, with families traumatized and properties destroyed during the invasion.
Community leaders have condemned the incident, calling it another heartbreaking reminder of the escalating threat posed by criminal gangs across Southern Kaduna. They urged the government to intensify security operations and protect vulnerable rural populations who have endured repeated attacks over the years.
The Kaduna State Police Command has yet to issue a detailed statement on the abductions, but security operatives are believed to have begun tracking the attackers’ movements. Many residents, however, remain sceptical, citing past incidents where kidnap victims were left in captivity for extended periods.
The abduction of a clergyman has especially stirred emotions among the faithful. Church leaders across the region have called for prayers, unity, and swift government intervention to secure the release of Rev. Fr. Pascal and the other abducted residents.
As families wait anxiously for updates, Tuesday’s attack serves as another grim reminder of the fragile state of security in Southern Kaduna. Many fear that unless swift and decisive action is taken, more communities could fall victim to the unending cycle of violence.
