State Party Reaffirms Unity After Unauthorized Form Purchases; Calls for Compliance with Leadership Directive
Osogbo Osun State, Nigeria — April 29, 2026
The State Party today reaffirmed its commitment to unity and internal discipline after reports that one or more aspirants purchased nomination forms despite a clear directive from the Agba Osun, issued through the state party chairman, that no aspirant should buy forms at this time. Party leaders say the action undermines collective decisions and risks creating division ahead of upcoming activities.
The party’s leadership made the instruction public last week to ensure a transparent, orderly process and to prevent any perception that individuals place themselves above the party. The Agba Osun’s directive was relayed through the state chairman as an authoritative call for all aspirants to hold off on form purchases until the party completes internal consultations and issues a confirmed timetable.
“Obtaining the form now is a statement that one is bigger than the party,” said a senior party official. “We will not tolerate actions that rubbish the collective will of our leadership or give the impression that certain actors will run the party on their own terms.” The official emphasized that the party’s integrity depends on members following agreed processes and respecting the authority of the state leadership.
The leadership also addressed concerns raised by a faction known as the Decampee Group, which previously warned that individuals claiming to add value might instead pursue personal agendas and steer the party unilaterally. Party officials say those warnings have proven prescient and underscore the need for unity and adherence to party rules. The state chairman is convening meetings with aspirants and key stakeholders to reaffirm the timeline and to ensure that all prospective candidates understand and commit to the agreed procedures.
Disciplinary measures remain an option if individuals continue to flout directives that were designed to protect the party’s cohesion and public standing.
The State Party is committed to democratic principles, internal discipline, and a clear process for selecting candidates. It seeks to build a united front that represents the values and interests of its members and the wider community. Through open dialogue and adherence to established procedures, the party aims to present credible candidates and maintain public trust.
