Atakumosa APC Mock Adeleke’s New Signee, Taiwo Akeju

• Label Him “Trojan Horse, Greek Gift, Political Parasite”
• Claim He Abandoned APC Before 2022 Election
Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 01, Iwara, Atakumosa East Local Government Area of Osun State, have distanced themselves from the recent defection announcement made by Mr Taiwo Akeju, describing him as a “political parasite” whose political relevance has long diminished within the party.
The ward members, in a statement signed by several APC stakeholders in the ward, maintained that Akeju had effectively ceased to be a member of the party long before his purported resignation, having allegedly stopped attending ward meetings even before the 2022 governorship election.
According to them, his absence from party activities and meetings signified that he had abandoned the APC years ago.
The APC members further alleged that Akeju engaged in anti-party activities during the 2022 governorship election and worked for the enthronement of the current administration despite publicly identifying himself as a member of the APC at the time.
They recalled that Akeju left the party to join the factional group known as The Osun Progressives (TOP), led by former governor Rauf Aregbesola, which later transformed into the Omoluabi movement.
The ward members also claimed that efforts by Akeju to return to the APC through some party leaders were rejected because of what they described as his antecedents and past actions against the party.
Describing his recent defection announcement as a “mere political stunt,” the APC members said it was aimed at creating the impression that the party had lost a major political figure.
“APC has not lost anything. You cannot resign from a party you abandoned years ago. His resignation letter is nothing but a trash because he had effectively left the APC before the 2022 governorship election,” the statement said.
The ward members argued that rather than APC suffering any setback from Akeju’s exit, it was his new political associates who should be concerned.
“It is not APC that has suffered a loss. What Accord has received is a Trojan horse, a Greek gift,” they stated.
The signatories further challenged Akeju to point to any notable project, benefit or development he facilitated for Ward 01 or Atakumosa East Local Government during his political career.
Reaffirming their support for APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), the ward members declared that the party remained united and committed to securing victory in the forthcoming governorship election.
“August 15 is AMBO O’Clock. Ward 01 is for AMBO,” the statement concluded.
The statement was signed by Hon. Kolade Mayowa, Ward Chairman; Mr Oladosu Shuaib, Unit 2 Chairman; Mr. Komolafe Kehinde, Unit 9 Chairman; Hon. Adebayo Semiu, Local Government Council Secretary; Hon. Ajewole Kayode, Local Government Party Secretary; Hon. Afolabi Lukuman, Local Government Youth Leader; Hon. Azees Risikatu, Local Government Vice Woman leader; Hon. Ogunleye Moses, Ward Youth Leader; Hon. Kareem Wasiu, Ex Councilor; Hon. Adewumi Rebecca, Ward Woman Leader; Mr Adewale Elizari former Ward Chairman; Mr Odeyemi John, Ward Legal Adviser; Mr Adediran Simeon, L.G Exco; Mr Adediran Abiodun, Ward Vice Youth Leader and Mr Alonge Mayowa, Ward. Organizing Secretary.
