Abaribe Slams Tinubu’s Cabinet Changes: “Southeast Suffers Again”

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of Abia South has condemned President Bola Tinubu’s recent cabinet reshuffle, arguing that it exacerbates the hardships faced by the Southeast.
Abaribe specifically took issue with the appointment of Bianca Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, replacing Uju-Ken Ohanenye, and expressed disappointment that the changes do not signal progress. He noted that his constituents refer to the situation as “Renewed Shege,” rather than “Renewed Hope.”
The senator further accused Tinubu of violating constitutional provisions regarding federal representation in the cabinet, stating, “For the past 18 months, the president has ignored this principle. We had hoped these changes might alleviate some concerns for the Southeast.”
He emphasized the desire for fairness and equity among the Igbo, asserting, “We want to be treated with the same respect as everyone else.”
