Abia APC Supports Kalu’s Appeal for Otti to Rejoin Party, Plans to Suspend Ezeala

The Abia State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu’s call for Governor Alex Otti to rejoin the ruling party, anticipating the Labour Party’s potential loss in the 2027 elections.
Additionally, the State Executive Council has announced plans to suspend Okey Ezeala for falsely claiming the position of APC Publicity Secretary in Abia and making unauthorized statements on behalf of the party.
Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, Chairman of the Abia APC, expressed the party’s full support for Kalu’s initiative and reiterated the call for Otti to return to the APC. Ononogbu criticized Ezeala for his inconsistent behavior and unauthorized activities, stating that his role as publicity secretary ended when he contested for a State House of Assembly seat in the 2023 elections.
The party will soon summon Ezeala to explain his claims of being the spokesperson and the legitimacy of his actions. The APC plans to announce a new publicity secretary shortly.
Ononogbu urged party members to stay united and supportive of Kalu, emphasizing the importance of working diligently to expand the party’s influence and achieve success in the upcoming 2027 elections. The statement clarified that Ezeala’s recent apology to Governor Otti was unauthorized and misrepresented the party’s position, asserting that the APC stands firmly with Kalu’s call for Otti to rejoin the party.
