Abuja-Bound Train Derails in Kaduna with Passengers Onboard
In the early hours of Sunday, a train traveling to Abuja derailed in the village of Jere, Kaduna State. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, although three carriages went off the tracks.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. However, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has confirmed the derailment.
In a statement, the NSIB acknowledged the incident, stating that a team had been dispatched to the site. “NSIB is aware of a derailment involving a train en route to Abuja from Kaduna, which occurred mid-journey at Jere. A go team has been deployed to the accident scene,” the statement read.
