ADC Is Not Atiku’s Property, Obi Didn’t Mislead Anyone – Shaibu Fires Back at Keyamo

ADC Is Not Atiku’s Property, Obi Didn’t Mislead Anyone – Shaibu Fires Back at Keyamo

Phrank Shaibu, Special Adviser on Public Communications to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has rejected claims by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, that Peter Obi misled his supporters after aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Shaibu also faulted Keyamo’s suggestion that Obi joined the ADC coalition in pursuit of a vice-presidential slot rather than the presidency. Writing on X, Shaibu described such assertions as unfounded assumptions presented as facts.

According to him, Obi did not defect secretly, nor did he betray anyone, insisting that the former Labour Party presidential candidate has been involved in the coalition from its inception. He explained that Obi’s recent public statement merely affirmed an existing position, rather than signaling a reversal.

Shaibu further dismissed the claim that the ADC coalition belongs to Atiku Abubakar, stressing that political coalitions are built on mutual understanding and consensus, not ownership. He noted that no candidate has been imposed on the alliance.

He accused Keyamo of being overly focused on a vice-presidential narrative, arguing that such speculation reflects anxiety rather than insight into Obi’s intentions. Shaibu added that Keyamo was attributing motives and agreements that do not exist.

The former vice president’s aide also criticized what he described as moral posturing, saying Nigerians are more concerned about hunger, insecurity, and daily hardship than political grandstanding. According to him, it is the growing organisation and calm strategy of the opposition that has unsettled the ruling camp.

Shaibu concluded that the emerging coalition is united around a single goal: removing what it sees as a failing administration through democratic means. He maintained that the outcome of 2027 would be decided by Nigerians’ lived experiences, not threats, insults, or entitlement to power
