Adeboye’s Advice on Tithing: What to Do If Your Pastor Rejects It

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has shared valuable advice for Christians facing the challenge of pastors who refuse to collect tithes. During the October edition of the RCCG Holy Ghost Service, he addressed the ongoing debates surrounding tithing, a topic that has sparked considerable controversy in many Christian circles.

Adeboye urged believers to refrain from arguing about tithing and to seek practical solutions when their pastors do not endorse the practice. He recounted an incident where one of his pastors preached against tithing, acknowledging that this can lead to confusion among church members.

“I implore everyone worldwide to end the debate about tithing,” he stated. He emphasized that Christians should not leave their churches simply because their pastors reject tithes. Instead, he recommended following their pastors’ wishes by making offerings.

However, he also encouraged those who feel compelled to tithe to find another church where tithing is welcomed.

In his remarks, Adeboye said, “If your pastor says he doesn’t want tithes, don’t leave his church. If he prefers offerings, give him offerings. But if your heart tells you to give at least 10 percent to God, seek out a church that accepts tithes, where the pastor can use it for God’s work. This way, you won’t have conflicts with your pastor or with God.”

He also took the opportunity to clarify earlier statements he made regarding tithing and salvation, expressing that he understands differing opinions exist. “I know some of you have more knowledge than I do, and I respect that. But let’s approach it this way: if your pastor does not accept tithes, stay in the church and give offerings. If you feel led to tithe, find a nearby church that will accept it, ensuring your conscience remains clear.”
