Adeleke appoints Kolapo Alimi, as minister
FCG reports that Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun, has appointed Kolapo Alimi, as the “minister” of information and public enlightenment in the state.
FCG gathered that on Wednesday, Adeleke sworn in 25 new commissioners at an oath-taking ceremony in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.
According to report from THECABLE, at the event, the Osun governor stood on the podium to call the names of the commissioners and their portfolios.
While he called Kolapo Alimi, Adeleke announced his portfolio as “minister of information and public enlightenment”.
Alimi was appointed commissioner for information and public enlightenment.
In the Nigerian political system, commissioners are at the state level, while ministers are appointed at the federal level.
The governor asked the new cabinet members to join him in building the state to achieve the high expectations the people have of him.
Adeleke said there won’t be room for “solo actors” as he is a team player, adding that he will not condone corruption from any of the cabinet members.
In June 2022, Alimi, an ally of Rauf Aregbesola, a former governor of the state, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support the governorship campaign of Adeleke.
He served as the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs under Aregbesola.
