ADELEKE UNDER FIRE: AMBO CAMP DEMANDS ACCOUNT OF ₦1 TRILLION, 114 TRACTORS AMID ATTACKS ON OYEBAMIJI

ADELEKE UNDER FIRE: AMBO CAMP DEMANDS ACCOUNT OF ₦1 TRILLION, 114 TRACTORS AMID ATTACKS ON OYEBAMIJI

… Asks Govt to Account for N1 Trillion Revenue, 114 Tractors

The attention of the Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Fronts has been drawn to the press statement issued by the spokesperson to the Governor of Osun State, Olawale Rasheed, in which the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke attempted to manufacture 23 reasons why the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the forthcoming election, AMBO, is allegedly unfit to serve as Governor of Osun State.

Ordinarily, such a compilation of half-truths, distortions, and outright misinformation would not deserve a response. However, since the Adeleke administration has now turned the Governor’s Office into a propaganda clearing house, it has become necessary to set the record straight for the people of Osun State.

The truth is simple: the Adeleke government has lost public goodwill and is desperately curating narratives to distract from its glaring governance failures.

The crumbling confidence within the Adeleke administration was publicly demonstrated a week ago when two key members of the government defected to the APC within the space of one week. They are Bishop Michael Adewale, a Special Adviser to Governor Adeleke, and Hon. Adeboye Sikiru Akinyemi, the “sit-at-home” Vice Chairman of Odo-Otin Local Government.
Both individuals cited loss of confidence in the capacity of Governor Adeleke to lead Osun effectively.

They have read the mood of the people and understood that Governor Adeleke will lose the August 15 election. They clearly do not want to be part of the political tsunami that will sweep the lacklustre administration away.

Even more revealing is the fact that several commissioners and special advisers within the Adeleke government are quietly engaging key APC leaders on how they will support AMBO’s success at the poll. Many of them are tired of the administration and are positioning themselves to be part of the process that will politically bury this failed government before it is finally sent packing by the people of Osun State in a few months.

Against this backdrop of panic and political isolation, the Adeleke government has resorted to propaganda. Having realised that its time is up, the administration has begun to rehash and rebroadcast the same jaded allegations it raised upon assumption of office in 2022.

It is a clear indictment of Governor Ademola Adeleke and his team to now claim that Bola Oyebamiji was involved in any financial impropriety when they have had almost four years to investigate and prosecute him if there were credible grounds. This only exposes how hollow and morally bankrupt the Adeleke government has been.

Why should they wait until barely four months to the election before circulating negative and irresponsible statements against a man who has been in public service since 2011?

Since November 2022, AMBO has publicly declared his readiness to face prosecution by the Adeleke government if they find any evidence of wrongdoing against him. Only a man of high probity can make such a bold declaration about his integrity.

The Adeleke government has searched tirelessly for something to incriminate Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji but has found nothing. For nearly four years at the helm of affairs, the administration has repeatedly threatened to probe and prosecute AMBO and other officials who served in the administration of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. Yet, nothing has come out of their numerous investigative panels.

The Osun State Government is once again challenged to publish the reports of these endless committees so that the people of Osun can see for themselves who truly deserves to be described as morally repugnant and disgraceful.

AMBO Media states once again that Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) did not mismanage the resources of OSICOL. On the contrary, he revived the organisation. When he was appointed Managing Director/CEO in 2011, the company was virtually moribund. Within five years, he improved its fortunes to over ₦6 billion. He also diversified its portfolio by building over 30 flats in choice locations in Abuja and Lagos and by establishing an NNPC Mega Station, which remains a major source of internally generated revenue for the current administration.

We also state that AMBO played no role in the sale of Omoluabi Holdings. The transaction was supervised by the former Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Wale Bolorunduro, in 2013. Ironically, Bolorunduro now serves as the Economic Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke.

As Commissioner for Finance, AMBO ended the half-salary regime within months of his appointment. He also ensured the prompt payment of salaries and pensions and facilitated one of the best salary scales for doctors in Nigeria for Osun State doctors in 2019. He equally ensured the swift implementation of the ₦30,000 national minimum wage in 2020.

As it has been explained repeatedly, AMBO had no role in initiating the half-salary policy. He was appointed Commissioner in May 2017, nearly two years after the policy was introduced in June 2015.

Regarding the Payroll Management System referenced by the Adeleke government, the system was never used for fraud, and no investigative authority has indicted AMBO.

The allegation of mismanagement of the $20 million World Bank Primary Healthcare Grant, which some critics have been noisily circulating, is baseless. World Bank projects operate under strict international auditing standards. It is on record that the administration in which AMBO served revitalised no fewer than 322 primary healthcare centres across the state and rehabilitated several general hospitals, including the construction of modern doctors’ quarters at the State General Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo. Only those lacking in moral rectitude and determined to drag others in the mud would raise questions about a World Bank grant that the donor agency itself has acknowledged as being properly managed.

If procurement violations had truly occurred, as some vuvuzelas in the Adeleke administration have been alleging, the government has had nearly four years to prosecute those responsible. Its failure to do so exposes the allegation as mere political noise.

The accusation that AMBO failed as Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) is also false. During his tenure, deaths and accidents on waterways dropped by over 70 percent—an unprecedented figure in the history of the agency. This achievement is publicly verifiable.

AMBO’s tenure also witnessed reforms, improved attention to infrastructure, and enhanced staff welfare, including the establishment of staff clinics and other welfare packages for the agency’s workers.

In summary, the campaign of misinformation being orchestrated against Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji cannot erase his record of service, competence, and integrity in public office.

Having addressed some of the issues raised in the litany of lies published by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Adeleke, we would like the Osun State Government to address these 17 questions bordering on governance:

1. Why has Governor Ademola Adeleke refused to recognize the APC-led local government leadership despite the positions of the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court, the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Attorney General of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police and the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation affirming them as the legally recognized chairmen and councillors?

2. Why has the Osun State Government allocated only N7.6 billion to agriculture in three years despite earning close to N1 trillion in revenue?

3. What justifies Governor Ademola Adeleke spending N92 billion on his office while key sectors of the economy remain poorly funded?

4. Why has the Osun State Government failed to produce the 114 tractors it claimed to have purchased in a press statement dated August 25, 2024, signed by Mallam Olawale Rasheed?

5. If 114 tractors were indeed purchased, why is the government now laying claim to only 31 tractors?

6. Why did the Osun State Government fail to procure modern buses like many other states that received the N2 billion federal grant to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal in 2023?

7. Why did the government fail to allocate funds for the payment of gratuity arrears in 2025 despite earning N381 billion in revenue in the year?

8. Why did Governor Adeleke spend over N7 billion on local and international travel in 2025 while only N1.5 billion was released for the Agriculture and Food Security sector?

9. Why has the Osun State Government committed only N15 billion to the payment of half-salary arrears inherited from the Rauf Aregbesola administration despite receiving about N1 trillion in revenue since November 2022?

10. What was the total half-salary liability inherited by the Adeleke administration in November 2022?

11. What portion of the half-salary arrears has been paid so far if the N15 billion figure is incorrect?

12. How many civil servants and pensioners are currently on the payroll of the Osun State Government?

13. What is the total monthly wage bill for these civil servants and pensioners?

14. How many political appointees are on the payroll of the Osun State Government as of January 2026?

15. What is the total monthly cost of maintaining the political appointees serving the Adeleke administration?

16. Why are some students of the University of Ilesa and Osun State University paying up to N1.5 million in school fees per session, making the two institutions among the most expensive public universities in Nigeria?

17. The Osun State Government should explain what qualifies two relatives of Governor Ademola Adeleke from Ede to serve as Rectors of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, and Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, especially when many believe they are among the least qualified for such critical positions?

18. The government should also justify why the two Rectors were given preferential treatment, including the provision of SUVs reportedly worth ₦150 million each, when their counterparts in other institutions do not enjoy such expensive official vehicles?

In truth, the desperate attempt to discredit Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji only exposes the panic within a government that knows its time is running out. Instead of addressing serious questions about its stewardship of nearly N1 trillion in revenue, the administration has chosen propaganda and character assassination.

The facts clearly show that the allegations against AMBO are either false, distorted, or outside his responsibility.

Throughout his public service, he has demonstrated competence, prudence and commitment to the development of Osun State. Osun people are discerning enough to distinguish propaganda from performance.

As the August 15 governorship election approaches, the public will judge based on facts. When that day comes, the electorate will deliver a clear verdict: a rejection of propaganda and a mandate for competent, transparent and people-centered leadership under Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
