AFAN Endorses AMBO for Osun Governorship, Cites Farmers’ Hardship and Demand for Agricultural Revival

Osogbo, Osun State – The Osun State chapter of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has endorsed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

‎The endorsement was announced by the Chairman of the association in Osun State, Elder Idowu Fadare, who said the decision followed extensive consultations with members and leaders of the association across the state.

‎According to Fadare, AFAN resolved to support the APC candidate because many of its members are dissatisfied with what they described as the current administration’s handling of the agricultural sector.

‎Fadare alleged that the state government had failed to fulfil promises made to farmers, leaving many without the support needed to improve agricultural productivity. He further claimed that the poor condition of several rural roads across Osun State has made it increasingly difficult for farmers to transport their produce from farms to markets, resulting in avoidable post-harvest losses and reduced incomes.

‎The AFAN chairman also alleged that farmers have continued to face challenges accessing tractors and other mechanised farming equipment, despite repeated calls for government intervention to improve agricultural production through affordable mechanisation.

‎According to him, these concerns, among others, informed the association’s decision to endorse Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, whom AFAN believes would give greater priority to agriculture, rural infrastructure, and farmers’ welfare if elected.

‎”Our endorsement is based on the aspirations of our members for a government that will invest in agriculture, rehabilitate rural roads, provide accessible farm machinery, and create an enabling environment for food production and economic prosperity,” Fadare said.

‎He urged farmers across the state to participate peacefully in the August 15 governorship election and to support the candidate endorsed by the association.
