Alafin of Oyo: “I’m Not Upset With Supporters Who Abandoned Me For Money” – Prince Reflects on Alaafin Race

Prince Ayobami Ladigbolu, one of the prominent candidates for the Alaafin of Oyo, has shared his reflections on his journey during the contest for the throne. In a post on Facebook, Ladigbolu expressed his disappointment over some initial supporters who withdrew their backing due to financial challenges, but emphasized that he does not hold any ill feelings toward them.
According to Ladigbolu, he learned valuable lessons about the importance of money in one’s life through this experience. Despite the setback, he thanked the Agbonhin Sanda Oridota family and the Ladigbolu branch of the Agunloye royal family for nominating and standing by him as a candidate.
He also extended his congratulations to the newly crowned Alaafin, Oba Abimbola Owoade, whom he believes was chosen by divine will. Ladigbolu called on the people of Oyo to unite in support of the new monarch, recognizing that royal contests often come with their share of controversies.
Ladigbolu stated, “The journey for the Alaafin throne has taught me a lot about the significance of money in people’s lives. Some of those who initially supported me later switched to other candidates due to financial pressures. While I felt let down at the time, I hold no grudges. It has been a learning experience that will guide me in the future.”
He continued, “I wholeheartedly congratulate Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, the new Alaafin of Oyo. His ascension to the throne is divinely ordained, and we, the entire Ladigbolu family, celebrate this milestone with him. I urge the people of Oyo to embrace and support him as we work together towards a prosperous future for Oyo and the Yoruba people.”
Ladigbolu’s message concluded with a call for unity and progress in the face of any challenges.
