AMBO Declares Governorship Ambition for Osun 2026
The Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji—widely known as AMBO—has officially announced his bid to contest the Osun State governorship election in 2026 under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
AMBO made the declaration earlier today at the APC party secretariat, where he was enthusiastically received by party loyalists and stakeholders. Speaking at the event, Oyebamiji shared that his foray into politics was driven by a passion for public service, pledging to deliver purposeful and people-centered governance if elected.
A number of notable figures in Osun politics attended the event to show support, including Rt. Hon. Wale Afolabi, the pioneer Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly; Hon. Bade Falade, former federal lawmaker and 2018 DG of Iyiola Omisore’s campaign; Dr. Amidu Tadese, National Commissioner of the National Population Commission; and Dr. Festus Olowogboyega, a former Head of Service in the state.
Other dignitaries present were Ambassador Issah Niniola, Senior Special Assistant (Protocol) to President Tinubu; Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, immediate past Speaker of the State House of Assembly; Oluomo Sunday Akere, ex-Commissioner for Information; Hon. Rasak Adeosun, former Special Adviser on Local Government Affairs; Hon. Kayode Oduoye (Superkay), a former PDP governorship hopeful; Hon. Babatunde Ayeni, ex-House of Reps member; along with current and past local government chairmen, among many other party members and supporters.
AMBO was widely praised at the event as a candidate with the vision, competence, and dedication needed to lead Osun State into a brighter future.
