Anambra Dismantles Three Kidnappers’ Hideouts, Praises Security Achievements

On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the Anambra State government took decisive action to enhance public safety by demolishing three known kidnappers’ hideouts in the Nnewi North Local Government Area. The targeted locations were Ndiezenwankwo Uruagu, Umumejiaku Uruagu, and Obiofia Nnewichi.
The operation was led by Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim, accompanied by Special Adviser on Community Security Chief Ken Emeakayi, House Committee Chairman on Security and Majority Leader Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, Nnewi North Local Council Chairman Mr. Echezona Anazodo, and Augustine Ike.
Dr. Law Mefor, the Commissioner for Information, emphasized that this action reflects Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and promoting peace within the state. He highlighted the recent launch of the Anambra security system, ‘Agụnaechemba,’ and Operation ‘Udo Ga-Achi’ (Peace Shall Reign), as part of the state’s comprehensive strategy to address criminal activities.
The ‘Agụnaechemba’ security system is equipped with advanced technologies, including a state-of-the-art tracking system, integrated command-and-control systems that combine voice, video, and data for efficient security management, and AI-powered surveillance cameras to monitor communities statewide. Additional resources include walkie-talkies, specialized task forces focusing on issues such as drug abuse, touting, cultism, and criminal idolatry, as well as routine patrols and stop-and-search operations.
Governor Soludo has emphasized that security, law, and order are central to his administration’s vision of creating a livable and prosperous homeland. Dr. Mefor also noted that the evolving nature of criminal activities in the South-East and Nigeria at large necessitates thoughtful, deliberate, and comprehensive responses. He commended the governor’s efforts, describing them as pragmatic and reassuring to stakeholders.
