Anambra Police Intensify Security Measures in Schools and Churches Amid Rising Concerns

In response to growing concerns over safety in public spaces, the Anambra State Police Command has announced a significant boost in security across schools and places of worship. This move comes amid reports of increasing incidents targeting vulnerable communities in the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the initiative involves deploying additional patrol units, establishing rapid response teams, and enhancing surveillance in areas deemed high-risk. The focus is on ensuring the safety of students, teachers, worshippers, and clergy members.
Commissioner of Police in Anambra, while addressing journalists, emphasized that the measure is proactive. “Our priority is to prevent any form of criminal activity before it occurs. Schools and churches are sacred spaces, and we are committed to making them safe for everyone,” he stated.
The police also revealed plans to engage local communities and leaders to foster a collaborative approach to security. Awareness campaigns and emergency response drills are being organized to prepare staff and students in handling potential threats.
Parents, teachers, and church leaders have welcomed the initiative, expressing relief over the increased presence of law enforcement. “Knowing that the police are actively monitoring our schools and churches gives us peace of mind,” said one concerned parent.
The Anambra State Police Command assured the public that security operations would continue to adapt to emerging threats and that collaboration with citizens remains key to maintaining safety across
the state.
