Another Catholic Priest kidnapped in Zamfara

Revd. Fr. Mikah Suleiman, the parish priest of St. Raymond Catholic Church in Damba, Gusau, Zamfara State, has been kidnapped by bandits.
The abduction occurred in the early hours of Saturday at Fr. Suleiman’s residence in Damba, according to a statement by the acting Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Very Revd. Fr. Nuhu Iliya.
“It is with heavy hearts that we inform the public of the kidnapping of one of our priests, Revd. Fr. Mikah Suleiman. This unfortunate event took place early this morning, Saturday, June 22, 2024, at his rectory. Fr. Mikah serves as the Parish Priest of St. Raymond Catholic Church in Damba, Gusau, Zamfara State,” the statement read.
The diocese has called upon all faithful and people of goodwill to pray fervently for Fr. Suleiman’s swift and safe return. “We also entrust him to the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Priests, for his speedy release from his captors.”
Yazid Abubakar, spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, confirmed the abduction to Channels Television. Although the incident was not initially reported to the police, the command has since deployed a tactical squad to rescue the priest.
“The incident occurred in the early hours today. The Reverend Father was kidnapped at his residence. We were not informed immediately, but we have now deployed our tactical squad to pursue the kidnappers with the goal of rescuing the victim unharmed,” Abubakar said.
