Arewa Consultative Forum Suspends Chairman Mamman Mike Osuman Over Controversial 2027 Election Comments

Mike Osuman
Mamman Mike Osuman, the Chairman of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has been suspended just a day after making controversial remarks regarding the 2027 presidential elections. The suspension follows his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and his statement that the northern region would support a northern candidate in the upcoming elections.
The decision to suspend Osuman was made during an ACF NEC meeting held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the organization’s headquarters in Kaduna.
In an official statement signed by Alhaji Bashir Muhammad Dalhatu, the Chairman of the ACF Board of Trustees, and Alhaji Murtala Aliyu, the Secretary-General, the Forum clarified that Osuman’s comments were made without prior consultation with other ACF leaders. They emphasized that his statements represented his personal views and were not in alignment with the position of the ACF.
“The comments made by Mr. Osuman were his own and were not discussed or approved by the ACF leadership. The Forum categorically rejects his statements,” the statement read. As a result, the Board of Trustees and the NEC of ACF decided to suspend Osuman with immediate effect.
Additionally, the Forum announced the formation of a committee to investigate the matter further.
