Army Chief Moves to North-East to Lead Counter-Terrorism Campaign

In a strategic move to strengthen military operations in the North-East, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General O.O. Oluyede, has taken up a forward position in the region to personally supervise ongoing efforts against insurgent groups.
This development was announced through the Nigerian Army’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, confirming that the Army Chief is now present at the operational frontlines of Operation HADIN KAI.
His deployment comes as the military intensifies its campaign against remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP militants, particularly around the Lake Chad and Sambisa Forest areas.
The Army’s post read: “Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General OO Oluyede currently in the North East overseeing Army operations in Operation HADIN KAI.”
