Associates of Late Gani Fawehinmi Call for Demolition of Nearby Hotel; Give Reasons

Associates of the late legal icon, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, have urged the authorities to demolish a hotel recently erected near his residence, citing serious security risks to the family and property.
According to the group, the building poses a persistent danger and could potentially serve as a base for individuals with malicious intentions toward the Fawehinmi household.
They emphasized that the structure should not be allowed to remain, describing it as a direct threat to the safety and peace of the iconic human rights advocate’s home.
In addition to the demolition demand, the coalition also called on security agencies to bolster protection around the Fawehinmi property.
“This is bigger than just removing a structure,” the statement read. “It’s about upholding a legacy, defending justice, and respecting the memory of a man who selflessly fought for the oppressed. Such disregard must not be allowed to continue.”
As at press time, the Lagos State government had yet to officially respond to the petition.
