Bandits Ambush Security Operatives in Plateau, Kill Four, Steal Weapons and Uniforms

In a deadly ambush in the early hours of Tuesday, suspected bandits attacked and killed two soldiers and two local vigilante members in Dogon Ruwa, a community under the Bashar District in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Sources from the area reported that the security personnel were on the trail of the armed group following intelligence about a possible attack, when they were ambushed around 1:00 a.m. The attackers, lying in wait, opened fire, leading to multiple fatalities.
After the assault, the assailants reportedly escaped with rifles and uniforms belonging to the fallen soldiers.
Confirming the incident, Abdullahi Yakubu, the traditional leader of Safiyo, which oversees Dogon Ruwa, condemned the attack and expressed concern over the growing insecurity in the region.
> “We received reports that bandits were planning to invade Dogon Ruwa. Security personnel responded quickly and moved toward the reported location. Unfortunately, the criminals had already set an ambush and opened fire, killing two soldiers and two vigilantes,” Yakubu stated.
A local resident, Ibrahim Sale, further revealed that the attackers looted the weapons and military gear of the deceased before fleeing the scene. He added that the incident has left the community on edge, with rising fear and frustration among residents.
Efforts to get a comment from the Plateau State Police Command were unsuccessful, as spokesperson Alfred Alabo declined to respond to inquiries and did not answer follow-up calls.
